The story of (HASDL) started with a grant from Hassan Abbas Sharbatly foundation to King Abdulaziz University to build a digital library to researchers and students. |

| The Sharbatly foundation’s roots dates back to the 1930s when it was founded by the head of one of Saudi Arabia's oldest business families the late Shk. Hassan bin Abbas Sharbatly. |

The late Shk. Hassan was a pioneer and a visionary, later named an honorary minister by His Majesty, the late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Majesty the King bestowed this title on the late Shk. Hassan in recognition for his noble work, his social generosity and his significant investments in the pre-oil era. |

The late Shk. Hassan is a founder of a number of major joint-stock companies in the Kingdom including Riyad Bank, Arabian Transportation Company and Saudi Arabian Refineries Company. Today, AlNahla Trading and Contracting Company is the holding of Sharbatly’s strategic investments in the financial, industrial, real-estate, hotel and commercial sectors in the MENA region while AlNahla Urban Development Company is one of the largest private land lords in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. |

Corporate Social Responsibility has always been part of the heritage of AlNahla Company. Today, the driver of such programs is H.E. Hassan Abbas Sharbatly foundation. The foundation is helping community and welfare project around the Kingdom and around the world. |
